Evaluating the brewing properties of new Czechoslovak varieties and clones of hops by the results of tests carried out with the hops of the 1965 harvest.Peer-reviewed article

M. VANČURA, J. BEDNÁŘ

The properties of new Czechoslovak varieties and clones of hops have been evaluated by comparing pilot brewing and applying technological, analytic and organoleptic criteria. Hops of the 1965 harvest were used in the described experimental work and differenciated hopping permitted to elaborate an accurate balance of bitter substances released from hops into beer the amount of such substances being a reliable indicator of the hopping efficiency of the compared sorts. The results confirm that the clone No. 72 maintains its supremacy. Very promising is the clone No. 1118 and varieties Siřem and SM 50/239.
