Mechanization of grape harvest is an important step towards modern, rationalized viticulture. Experience so far acquired with the Müller-Thurgau variety confirms that as far as the quality of wine is concerned harvesting method, i. e. mechanized or hand harvesting, makes no difference. Must from hand harvested grapes contains 27 % of tannin matter as compared with only 13 % in must from mechanically harvested ones, but this has no effect on the quality and taste of wine.
