M. VANČURA

Kvasny Prum. 1968; 14(9): 193-197 | DOI: 10.18832/kp1968025

A comprehensive evaluation of brewing properties of new varieties of Czechoslovak hops confirms their oustanding quality. The No. 1118 clone and seedlings No. Sm 1952 and Sm    H - 29 are especially valuable. The mentioned two clones are characterized by an extremely high content of resins permitting to redukce the amount of hops required for hopping by 30%. The No. 72 clone, which was used for comparison as a standard, confirmed also its stable, high quality.(In Czech, English summary only)

Comparison of projects of new breweries with world standards.Peer-reviewed article

J. LOOS

Kvasny Prum. 1968; 14(9): 198-200 | DOI: 10.18832/kp1968026

Consultants studying projects of new breweries and other plants requiring big capital investments must not restrict their analyses to the calculations of economic efficiency, but should compare the price of equipment with prices abroad. The problem is rather exacting, since it is necessary to elaborate methods applying comparable parameters. The article deals with the criteria which should be applied to the equipment of brewhouses and other departments of modern breweries.(In Czech, English summary only)

Some problems of the coliform bacteria - I.Peer-reviewed article

O. BENDOVÁ, V. KURZOVÁ

Kvasny Prum. 1968; 14(9): 202-204 | DOI: 10.18832/kp1968027

The propagating ability of the coliform bacteria in sweet wort, fermenting wort and beer has been compared at various incubating temperatures. In beer the germs fail to propagate and their number drops gradually the rate being indirectly proportional to the temperature. Contrary conditions are in sweet wort.(In Czech, English summary only)

Experience with an one - floor gas fired malt kiln.Peer-reviewed article

M. NENTWICHOVÁ, A. DOLEŽALOVÁ

Kvasny Prum. 1968; 14(9): 205-206 | DOI: 10.18832/kp1968028

The article deals with the efficiency and economy of an experimental one - floor malt kiln installed at a brewery at Břeclav. This gas - fired kiln, using natural gas, is both economical and efficient, so that the method should be applied on a large scale.(In Czech, English summary only)

Improving the stability of non - alcoholic beverages through electrochemical disinfection of water.Peer-reviewed article

V. POTĚŠIL, J. URBÁNEK, S. LANĚK

Kvasny Prum. 1968; 14(9): 209-212 | DOI: 10.18832/kp1968029

One of the new methods in the water treatment technology is based on the oligodynamic effect of some heavy metal salts, especially of silver ones. Experience indicate that silver - if finely dispersed by continuous current - is an efficient disinfectant, very suitable for plants making carbonated non - alcoholic beverages.(In Czech, English summary only)
