Spring barley cannot assimilate high rates of nitrogenous fertilizers, which cause lodging and deteriorate the quality of corn. Spring barley grown for malting should be given only reduced amount of nitrogenous fertilizers, as specified for individual barley varieties in agronomic instructions. Only a strict adherence to prescribed agronomic methods, taking into account specific requirements of different varieties, and correct regional assignment can create favourable conditions for high yields of quality spring barley for brewing industry.(In Czech, English summary only)
Economic consumption of fuel and energy in brewing industry must be consistently pursued.Peer-reviewed article
A. KRATOCHVÍLE
Kvasny Prum. 1979; 25(7): 149-154 | DOI: 10.18832/kp1979022
The author analyzes the flow of fuels and energy in typical breweries, shows under what conditions analytic indices of specific consumption can be applied and presents new synthetic index characterizing requirements to energy of individual plants and processes. A number of mathematic formulae demonstrates, how new indices should be used to asses the results of various development works or rationalization measures and consequences of changes of production capacity.(In Czech, English summary only)

The measurement of rheological properties of natrium-, calcium- and magnesium-bisulphite liquors as a function of the soluble dry matter concentration was performed. The measurements were made at temperatures of 30 and 35 °Cwhich are the limiting ones from the standpoint of a subsequent process of a yeast culture in these media. Rheograms were obtained using a viscosimeter Rheomat 30 (Contraves,Switzerland) with a system MS-O. It was found that in a range of 8 to 50% of the soluble dry matter concentration, all types of sulphite liquors used showed-out the Newtonian behaviour. Up to the soluble dry matter concentration of about 15%, the dynamic viscosity...
