The Malting Institute was established in 1920, its head became V. V. Zila. The Czechoslovak government wanted to maintain positions of the malting industry on world markets and for this reason it supported the establishment of a new professional institution. The Institute was well-equipped for its time. The main activity of the company has been control of the quality of malt and barley grains. In addition, a pilot-plant malthouse was built. V. Waste kieselguhr recovery.Peer-reviewed article

Various possibilities regarding to waste kieselguhr removal are discussed. The author relying on his own experience recommends for the kieselguhr to be recovered by wet process under using caustic soda without subsequent acid hydrolysis. In such a way recovered kieselguhr maybe used in an admixture consisting of suitable types of non-used kieselguhr (from 50% to 60%), respecting definite conditions. Recovery of the investment cost put into recovery plant development attains, under current conditions, approx. 6.4 years presuming that possible economical sanctions arising as a result of environmental pollution during kieselguhr´s dumping are not considered.(In...
