Gas chromatography plays a significant role in the determination of flavors, which is important not only for monitoring the quality of final product but also when testing new technological procedures. Correct setting of all conditions having an influence on the chromatographic separations, including carrier gas, is necessary for acquiring accurate and reproducible results in gas chromatographic methods. Some difficulties with substitution of helium as carrier gas by another gas are discussed in this series of papers. Laboratories may be forced to make this change due to "helium crisis". Rosé wines has gained a great popularity not only in Czech Republic but also elsewhere in the world. Rosé are produced mostly from traditional varieties such as 'Pinot Noir', 'Blaufrankisch' (Lemberger), 'Zweigeltrebe', 'Merlot' and 'Cabernet Sauvignon'. Entirely new act play rosé wines made from blue Czech interspecific grape varieties, such as 'Cerason' or 'Laurot'. The paper aims to describe the history of the British joint-stock company Bohemian Breweries Limited, which owned three breweries in Prague in the turbulent period of the late 19th century. The second part of the three-part paper analyzes the potential and the risks of the local Bohemian market and introduces the company's director Alexander Wentworth Forbes, who also became the first British consul in Prague.(In Czech, English summary only)
